Null again is void of honors

Here we go again. West Texas A&M quarterback Keith Null will have to throw for 1,000 yards and a dozen touchdowns in a game to earn Lone Star Conference honors. It's own fault, really, for being so consistent. That's why a 389-yard, four-touchdown performance seems, well, pedestrian. Null should go over 1,000 yards passing this weekend and is completing 67 percent of his throws. The joke at Monday's Buffalo Sports Lunch was that Abilene Christian quarterback Billy Malone, the first LSC South offensive player of the week, would repeat though his team was idle. Malone threw no incompletions (Null had 12 vs. Central Oklahoma) and no interceptions (Null had one).

WT quarterbacks coach Ryan Leaf was asked if Null ever was going to run when he rolled out of the pocket and saw a pasture of green turf ahead of him. "No. No. No. That's why we have Keithon (Flemming)," Leaf said. "You'll thank me later in the season when we play Abilene Christian."
