Can Boys Ranch, Caprock end playoff droughts?

Two of the longest playoff droughts in the Texas Panhandle could end this season if Caprock and Boys Ranch can have successful district runs beginning Friday. Caprock is 3-2 entering its District 3-4A campaign against crosstown rival Palo Duro. With four teams making the playoffs, the Longhorns would likely need to win just two games in order to make their first playoff appearance since 1975. Boys Ranch begins its District 3-1A schedule at winless Claude on Friday. The Roughriders have never made the playoffs. If they win this week they would probably need to win two more games in order to make school history. Their 3-2 nondistrict record matches the best in the district along with Nazareth and Bovina.
