Perryton playoff streak in jeopardy

Perryton's 11-year playoff streak is in jeopardy as the season heads into its final two weeks. The Rangers haven't missed advancing to postseason play since 1996. Unless they win at Levelland on Friday they will have a tough time getting there this season. A loss would leave them 1-3 and with little hope of getting there as they finish the season at home against Dalhart. Perryton had one of the toughest, if not toughest, schedules of any team in the Panhandle this season and have lost a handful of close games against teams such as Bushland, Randall, Lubbock Estacado and Lubbock Cooper. They might have had a better chance to make the playoffs in District 3-4A than in 1-3A. That's because they beat Dumas and Pampa, who reside in 3-4A, and in that particular league two wins is good enough to reach postseason play.
