WT failed to help itself vs. ACU

West Texas A&M didn't do the things it needed to do to beat Abilene Christian. Or, at least, give the Buffs a chance. Last week, I listed five things WT had to do to win. The Buffs did not make things happen on defense, recording no turnovers to give its offense help. The offense got only 65 rushing yards, all those in the second half. The lack of a running back hurt WT's efforts to keep the ball away from ACU. The Buffs defense had to defend 83 ACU plays. A large crowd of almost 20,000 got smaller and smaller and smaller as the ACU's lead got bigger and bigger and bigger. And just when the crowd got into it, WT gave up a big play. You could've heard a pin drop except for all the noise Wildcats fans were making. With ACU, WT now will be playing teams as good or maybe even better. The Buffs will have to tilt the advantage in their favor to be successful.
