District 4-1A race to be settled Friday

The District 4-1A champion will be crowned Friday when Wellington host Clarendon in a matchup featuring teams that are 4-0 in district play. Wellington, at 9-0, is trying to post its first unbeaten regular-season record since 1991. Clarendon is 8-1 this season losing only to Sunray. Both teams are headed for the playoffs with Wellington the Division I team and Clarendon the No. 1 Division II seed from their district. Wellington will play Bovina in the bidistrict playoffs if the Mustangs beat White Deer Friday. If Bovina loses, then Wellington would meet Boys Ranch in the opening round of the playoffs. Clarendon will meet Vega in bidistrict and if the Bronchos win that game they would meet Sunray in the area round in a rematch of that regular-season game.
