Settled After a Week

As of Thursday morning, I will have completed my first week as an Amarillo resident. I'm getting to know my way around town and attended my first AISD coaches gathering Wednesday, a luncheon which gives us local media types a chance to talk to the city's football and volleyball coaches in a very informal setting — and a chance at some free food.
Hopefully they all know me by sight now, which will make things so much easier the rest of the season. Over the next three days, I'll get a chance to see three of the four city teams at Dick Bivins Stadium (Tascosa, which opens District 2-5A play against Lubbock Monterey at Lowrey Field is the exception), concluding with a Saturday afternoon. I've always liked Saturday games, since they have kind of a college feel to them.
So, I pretty much know where I'll be spending most of my next three days. And I'm close to feeling like I belong.
See you at Bivins.
