Valley named Texas Football Army Strong Team of the Week

The Valley Patriots were named the Dave Campbell’s Texas Football Army Strong six-man Team of the Week on Thursday.

The No. 2 Patriots (1-0) beat state champion Strawn 50-40 Friday to earn the zero week honor.

“We put in a lot of hard work, so any recognition we get is special, especially from Dave Campbell’s and the Army,” Valley coach Bret Tyler said. “After beating Strawn, this really tops off the weekend for us.”

It's great that our small-school football is still so great up here. It's what makes the Panhandle special in a state where football is king. But we've hands-down got the best programs in 2A through Six-man.
