What To Watch for tonight - this is the one

Although the 2009 high school football season is just four weeks old, plenty of interesting news could unfold tonight.

1. A Borger win over Lamesa would mark its first home victory since Oct. 13, 2006 (a 31-8 win over Levelland).

2. A Muleshoe win over Crane on neutral turf in Denver City stretches the Mules consecutive winning streak to 19.

3. Defending Class 1A Division II state champion Stratford has won 14 games in a row and will play its first home game of the season tonight against undefeated Bushland. The Harris Ratings System has Bushland a 14-point favorite. Stratford's last loss was at Bushland on Sept. 19 last year.

4. Bushland has won 22 of its last 23 regular season games under coach David Flowers.

5. A win by Tascosa over Odessa High would hand it the first 4-0 start for the school since 1997.

6. Tonight marks 24th consecutive year Amarillo High and Odessa Permian have met during the regular season. Permian has won 20 of those 23 meetings dating back to 1986. The AHS wins arrived in 2005, 1999 and 1994.
