Class 1A to change drastically with next realignment

Class 1A will undergo a drastic change when the UIL announces its realignment early next year.
Like Six-Man has done, Class 1A will go to a Division I and Division II district alignment with the larger schools playing in I and the smaller ones in II.
No longer will schools such as Booker and Gruver compete in the same district as Canadian and probably Stratford.
Whether Class 2A, 3A, 4A or 5A goes to that format is anyone's guess.
In the new 1A world, two teams from each district will advance to the playoffs and there will be just 16 districts in Division I and 16 in Division II, meaning the playoffs will likely be shortened by one week.
It sounds exciting and I for one am looking forward to it in the future.
Among the Panhandle area schools, look for Panhandle to drop to 1A as the school turned in 198 for its enrollment, below the 200 number that separated 2A and 1A at the last realignment.
