Let's Play Two

With baseball season sloooowllly winnndddiiinngg dooowwnn, the only chances sporting fans will have to witness doubleheaders will be on the gridiron. For the second Friday night in a row, Dick Bivins Stadium will host a twinbill which should be twice as nice for high school football fans.

Randall will be the visiting team for the second time in a 4:30 p.m. kickoff, facing Caprock in Friday's first game at Bivins. The Raiders pulled out their first win of the season in thrilling fashion in the day game last week, rallying to beat Palo Duro 37-36 in a District 3-4A contest.

Following the Randall-Caprock game, the 5A schools will take over at 8 p.m., as Tascosa hosts Midland High in a key District 2-5A clash. This will be the second week in a row Midland High has played an Amarillo team, as last week the Bulldogs hosted Amarillo High and lost a 23-20 nailbiter.

If you can't make it to Odessa for the AHS-Odessa High game, or are more inclined to support Tascosa, staying in town is a tremendous option. The Rebels badly need a win to stay within shouting distance of a playoff spot. And if you're a neutral observer who just enjoys good offense, Tascosa's Dalton Brooks always puts on a good show, and Midland High has the district's top-ranked offense.

For the second straight Friday, if you go to Bivins in the afternoon, you're bound to find something you like.
