River Road needs three wins to reach playoffs

The River Road Wildcats are three wins away from reaching the playoffs for the first time in 10 years.
They will begin their quest for that goal Friday at Panhandle in a District 1-2A opener.
The Wildcats are 4-1 for the first time since 1994 after defeating previously unbeaten Olton 30-21 Friday before an overflow crowd at home on Homecoming.
River Road runs a form of the old single wing offense with Chris Perez getting a direct snap from center much of the time and either running himself or handing off to another player. Their backfield contingent of Perez, Dylan Woodfin, Trent Crich, Gavin Jimenez and QB Sheldyn Van Winkle offers plenty of threats.
They haven't had a great deal of success in recent years in football, but with a large group of juniors and seniors this year has started well.
