A state record for the Palo Duro Dons?

I still can't believe what I saw Friday night.

When the Caprock Longhorns and Palo Duro Dons departed Dick Bivins Stadium Friday night following the Dons' 55-42 District 3-4A game, a state record may have departed with them.

Palo Duro running backs Denzel Everhart and Ty Hicks each eclipsed the 300-yard rushing mark. That's correct.

In the same game two PD running backs each ran for more than 300 yards. Everhart racked up 321 yards, while Hicks produced 304 yards during the game producing 1,213 yards of total offense.

We will do our best to uncover if this was the first time in a Texas 11-man game where two players from the same team during the same game ran for more than 300 yards.

If you know of a game where it happened before, let us know.

State record, or no state record, I've never seen such a sight in my 25 years of watching games in Dick Bivins Stadium. Or, on TV my entire life.
