Wacky Weather

There's an old saying in the Panhandle and West Texas in general that if you don't like the weather, wait 15 minutes and it will change. That was certainly proven late Thursday afternoon.

It had been cold and damp all day, but when I headed home for a bit from the Globe-News before covering the Dumas-Palo Duro game, snow started blowing straight into the windshield of my rental car (don't ask). That made me dread the game at Dick Bivins Stadium, which has hosted many cold games through the years.

In about 15 minutes, though, the snow began to thin into rain, and another 15 minutes after that, the sun popped out. Just think if this were tornado season.

To look at the field at Bivins prior to kickoff, it's hard to tell that it snowed. But just wait until halftime.

I'll be back then.
