Wellington fan wants some repect for Skyrockets

I received a phone call Saturday night from a nice gentleman who said he was a die-hard Wellington Skyrocket fan. He wondered why the Globe-News hadn't covered his favorite team that currently is ranked third in the state in the weekly AP poll and 10th in the Harris Ratings.
I assured him that I had been wanting to cover Wellington all season and that I planned to cover its game this Friday at home against Wheeler in a battle of undefeated teams.
The game will decide the District 4-1A title with both teams already having clinched playoff berths.
With just one writer covering small-school games throughout the season, it's difficult to pick which one to cover each week. I try to go to the most competitive game each week, although it doesn't always turn out that way.
Wellington is an outstanding team has has simply rolled over every team it has played so far. It's not the fault of the schedule, it was there when head coach Wade Williams arrived before the 2008 season. It's just fact. At any rate, I'm certainly looking forward to this week's game.
