Bushland QB suffers thumb injury

Brett Wilhelm, who has thrown for 382 yards and three touchdowns in Bushland's first two games, is expected to be sidelined Friday when the Falcons host Borger.

According to head coach David Flowers, Wilhelm suffered a torn ligament in his right thumb last week in a 35-21 road loss at Perryton. Wilhelm played the entire game completing 21-of-32 passes for 305 yards and two TDs.

Wilhelm, by the way, replaced Sawyer Cornelius for the final four playoff games in the Falcons' run to the Class 2A Division II state championship game. Cornelius was injured before practice after two playoff games a year ago and didn't play again.
