The Tuberville era opens in style even before first kick

New Texas Tech head football coach Tommy Tuberville put his southern influence on display Sunday even before the Red Raiders opening kickoff of the 2010 season.

Tech fans formed an alley of two lines from the nearby baseball field stretching to the players entrance into Jones AT&T Stadium a couple of hours before the 2:30 p.m. kickoff.

The scene provided a strong vibe and loads of energy.

The Tech players seemed to enjoy "the walk" Tuberville brought from his days coaching in the SEC at Auburn and Ole Miss.

Walks like these for college football teams seem to be a tradition for many colleges in the South but as I understand is new for Tech.

I loved being around it and all the hype, like seeing all those little kids together with their parents pointing at players and smiling.

Tuberville gets an A from me even before his first call play.

Now I don't think this tradition comes close to seeing The Masked Rider sprint the field on the horse before Tech games, but I think this is a tradition that should continue for a long time.

What do you think?

What is your favorite college tradition?
